Hands-on Service Project - Durham Literary Center
Durham Literacy Center provides research-based learning for adults and teens through three core programs, adult literacy, ESOL and youth achievement. These programs provide a safe, quiet space for learning and individualized tutoring. They also provide reading and math classes through Threshold, a program serving adults with severe mental illness. More information is available on their website, durhamliteracy.org. The Congregation has supported this organization financially for several years through our Mission and Outreach Committee grants.
On Saturday, November 14 from 9 AM -12 PM we will have an opportunity to provide hands-on service to help improve their property at 1905 Chapel Hill Road in Durham. Wear clothes appropriate for gardening or painting, and bring work gloves if you have them.
