Congregation at Duke Chapel

Education

As a congregation located in a university environment, we value education. Christian Education, whether it happens on Sunday morning, in an evening book study, or at a Saturday seminar, can help deepen our discipleship.  We are committed to offering a range of educational opportunities that serve all ages. Our programming includes the following opportunities:

Sunday Morning Classes

Christian education classes are available for all ages from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. in the lowest level of the Divinity School on most Sundays throughout the year.  New participants are welcome to attend at any time.

Bible and Book Studies

Periodically, we offer Bible studies and book discussions, which most often take place  via Zoom.  For instance, during Lent we typically offer several book groups which will help participants reflect on their lives and prepare for the celebration of Easter.

Small Groups

Education occurs throughout the week. We offer multiple book groups throughout the year to explore different topics in depth. In addition to discussing assigned reading, book groups also share joys and concerns with one another. These book groups typically meet by Zoom.

Life Together Groups are our small group ministry that focuses simply on sharing our lives and prayers with one another in order to develop deeper relationships. We currently have four Life Together Groups, which meet every other week. New participants and new groups are always welcome.

Seminars and Retreats

Regular seminars and retreats provide us with opportunities for in-depth education as well as significant fellowship.  Fall and winter seminars are held locally on Saturday mornings.  An annual day-long retreat is held in May.  Seminars and retreats provide a treasured time to step away from our schedules to spend time with our faith family.
