The Congregation at Duke University Chapel

A Letter from the Stewardship and Finance Committee

Dear Friends in Christ,

It is that time of year again when we ask you to reflect on all that the Congregation at Duke Chapel does and on how you can continue to be a part. As you can see from the descriptions here, the Congregation, while active across a wide range of ministries, has continued to increase our allocation to Mission and Outreach.

Our budget for 2021-2022 has increased to $372,000, with 32% of that allocated to Mission and Outreach. This budget is a reflection of how we are prioritizing putting our faith into action. As you consider your contribution, please reflect on these words from the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. which also emphasizes the importance of action:

Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.”

Please indicate your financial support by joining the Congregation Council, staff and our committee by returning the enclosed Financial Commitment Card, which you can do from this page.

We are asking that cards be returned by November 15th. This year we have also introduced a new online giving platform, Breeze, which will enhance the convenience of giving. Please see the enclosed card for more details. Thank you for your continued financial support of the Congregation.

With Gratitude,
John Mullins
